The Board of Supervisors of the Heritage Pines Community Development District approved an A‑Z Tree Service estimate to "Remove with Stump Grind" behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive for $600 on Feb. 18. The motion was made by Michael Walsh, Assistant Secretary, and seconded by Stephen Putman, Assistant Secretary; the minutes record the action passed "with all in favor."
Resident Don Brothers told the board the tree and an associated debris pile on CDD property posed a storm hazard and called for removal. "The tree is a hazard that might land on nearby homes during a hurricane, if it is not removed," Brothers said. Supervisor Stephen Putman inspected and photographed the site and the board placed the stump‑grind estimate on the agenda for consideration.
District Manager Chuck Adams explained the proposals from A‑Z Tree Service included a lower‑intensity cleanup ($350), the approved removal with stump grind ($600), and a larger forestry mulch option ($5,475). The board approved the $600 option limited to the parcel behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive; no roll‑call tally beyond "all in favor" was recorded. The board also discussed a separate scope from Environmental Solutions for certain wetland work and noted different contractors use different methods (hand work vs. forestry mulcher).
The board did not authorize the larger forestry mulch work at this meeting. The District Manager said quotes are being obtained for a separate damaged cover repair and that other maintenance items will be discussed at the next meeting on April 15, 2025.
