Council approves minor subdivision land swap for Faith Baptist Church and Tuomi property

Park Rapids council members voted unanimously to approve Resolution #2025-134 on Aug. 26, 2025, authorizing a minor subdivision and property transfer involving Faith Baptist Church (1505 Park Ave S, PID 32.26.03001) and the Tuomi property. Planning staff explained the request as a land swap in which tracts A, B and C owned by the church would be combined with the adjoining Tuomi parcel so that the resulting lot configuration meets ordinance requirements.
Planning staff member Oleson described the practical effect: "they are asking for those tracts A, B and C to be transferred as one group or one parcel and then be attached to the parcel that’s just north of tract D." Oleson said the parties are exploring extending sewer up South Main in the future; if sewer is installed those tracts could become separate lots, but under current conditions the parcels must be merged to comply with ordinance standards. The motion to approve was made by Vice Mayor Liz Stone, seconded by Joe Christensen, and carried unanimously.
