UN to present July report on violations; SG cites meetings in Quneitra and with UNDOF

Antonio Mudares said the United Nations' role in Syria is one of monitoring and reporting rather than peace enforcement, and he told reporters the UN will present a report in July intended to set out "very serious violations" and to alert the Security Council and global public opinion.
"We will be presenting a report in July ... and it is our intention in that report to be clear about the very serious violations that are taking place," Mudares said. He described meeting the governor of Quneitra, local community representatives including farmers, and the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) commander; he said those meetings helped prepare the forthcoming report.
He also explained that a planned site visit to another location was shortened by a separate mission to Cyprus, and that the Quneitra meetings served as a field briefing for the UN team's reporting work.
