Euerle told the council that the city’s general fund has had revenues exceed expenditures in each of the last four years, while the water fund recorded operating losses in three of the last four years and the sewer fund is operating at a loss. Council member Shane Dillabough moved to accept the audit as presented; Council member Lance Crowe seconded and the motion passed. The audit presentation included a note that all cash balances decreased compared with the prior year but that the declines were not significant.
The council did not take additional budget actions at the meeting. The audit acceptance leaves identified financial trends—particularly water and sewer operating losses—for future discussion by council and staff as they prepare budgets and consider utility rates.
