UN: "All settlements... have no legal validity" as West Bank violence escalates

The secretary-general is "deeply concerned" by recent Israeli measures and the escalation of settler violence in the occupied West Bank, the UN's spokesperson Farhan told reporters.
Farhan reiterated that "all settlements, including outposts, have no legal validity and constitute a flagrant violation of international law," and relayed OCHA figures that since Thursday at least eight Palestinians (including one child) and two Israelis were killed. He also cited year-to-date OCHA documentation of more than 1,330 incidents involving Israeli settlers and said that, as of Saturday, 77 Palestinians, including 18 children, have been killed in 2026.
