UN secretary-general travels to Cyprus after Syria visit, pledges continued support for Syrian transition

Farhan said the secretary-general spent two days in Syria and met in Amman with Jordan's deputy prime minister and foreign minister Ayman Safadi to discuss regional developments. He noted that the secretary-general welcomed "the progress achieved in Syria's political transition" and reaffirmed the United Nations's commitment to support accountability, transitional justice, human rights and reconciliation as part of efforts to build "a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Syria for all Syrians."
