Township authorizes CFA/MTF grant application for Walnut Street reconstruction (draft cost ~$1.6M)
Summary
The board authorized submission of a Commonwealth Finance Authority/Municipal Transportation Fund (CFA/MTF) grant application for the Walnut Street reconstruction project, which staff and consultants estimated at roughly $1.6 million and includes roadway reconstruction, curb and sidewalk extensions and replacement of a corrugated metal drainage pipe.
Staff said the township will apply for a CFA/MTF grant for the Walnut Street reconstruction project, working with Delta as the grant consultant. A Delta representative described the scope as Walnut Street from 29th down to just past Canal (toward the church area), including frontage reconstruction, consistent curb reveal, sidewalk replacements/extensions to connect missing sidewalks, and replacement of an existing corrugated metal pipe with concrete to improve stormwater conveyance.
Staff provided a draft cost estimate of about $1,600,000 and said the CFA/MTF grant range is $100,000 to $3,000,000; the board authorized submission of the grant application via Resolution 2026‑35. Staff said the project was chosen in part for its stormwater mitigation benefits and that grant paperwork must be finalized by the end of the month.
