Council reviewed a draft ordinance amending Chapter 10 (fire prevention and protection) to give the city manager or designee authority to declare a rainout for July 3 and/or July 4 and to designate a single makeup day before July 15 of the same year. Staff requested feedback and said the makeup day should ideally be on a weekend to accommodate residents.
Trevor, a staff member, said the draft would allow the manager to examine forecasts and coordinate with fire and police for enforcement considerations, and recommended making the makeup day a weekend if possible so residents have time to plan. Councilors signaled general support and asked that staff return with a final ordinance for consideration.
