Council approves PUD to secure land for future Bent Tree regional lift station after neighbor outreach

City staff presented Planned Unit Development 1983-2025 to secure roughly 9.6 acres for a future regional sanitary sewer lift station in the Bent Tree area. Staff explained the PUD is intended to secure property now for future use, not to begin construction immediately, and emphasized that the installation would be located closer to the creek than to backyards and screened with landscaping and an opaque fence to limit noise and visual impacts.
An engineering representative said the property acquisition is for future planning and maintenance access would be rare; ‘‘we're not putting it up against their backyards,’’ the representative said, noting neighbors were satisfied after staff explained siting and screening plans. Rocky Hinkle noted fencing would be included. Council approved the PUD to secure the parcel for city planning purposes.
