Select Board narrows organizational chart; approves a flow that places operational roles under town administrator

Select Board members spent extensive time reviewing three organizational options for town staff structure, including where to place the community/economic development (CEDS) role, rec coordinator and the assessor. After discussion the board voted to adopt a version that places several operational positions under the town administrator while retaining mechanisms for board oversight.

Members raised concerns about potential bottlenecks, checks and balances and whether committees or employees should report directly to the board. One board member described the proposal as a way to make reporting and coordination clearer: "Get stuff done — make sense to me that public works' supervisor is directly under John," while another warned that collapsing reporting could conceal information from the board. After extended conversation the board approved the flowchart by voice vote with one member recorded as opposed.

Board members agreed to return a finalized flowchart and job descriptions at the next meeting, and discussed timing for advertising and hiring a part‑time CEDS or grant‑writing support coincident with the treasurer's retirement planning.
