Military History Center reports veteran services, visitor growth; seeks grant funding

Tom Mancino, representing the Military History Center, described the center's role as an anchor for the Rose District and reported that veteran service officers recorded over 1,100 initial veteran visits last year. "We served over 1,100 veterans, helping them get their benefits last year," Mancino said, noting some veterans returned for follow-up visits and the center is working to increase staff capacity after recent departures.
Mancino walked the council through recent attendance snapshots and fundraising activities — trivia nights, the Salute to Veterans concert, banners, golf tournament and other events — and said the center plans to apply for additional grants and upgrade exhibits. He recommended the council visit the museum and cited outreach to out-of-state and international visitors as evidence of the center's regional draw.
