Board explores Bird Town native-plant grant and Trellis community-garden partnership

"There's a grant that has a September 15 deadline. It's 1000 dollar grant that comes from, Bird Town, PA," a board member said; the board asked whether a grant writer could be assigned and discussed budgeting for any match.
Separately, members described a site visit to Trellis for Tomorrow community gardens in Phoenixville and discussed the potential to create a Collegeville community garden to grow fresh vegetables for local food banks such as Daily Bread. Board members said they will assemble cost and volunteer estimates, present the idea to supervisors if the park board supports it, and seek possible grant matches and community partnerships.
