EDZC approves FY 2026–27 operating budget with funding set‑asides for lighting and wayfinding

Mr. Jason Jeffries, Planning Director, displayed the budget backup and said: "they have included in the FY 2026 budget $80,000 for downtown lighting and security, $20,000 for SR 60 enhanced streetscape, $100,000 for the 14th Avenue streetscape improvements and $150,000 for the downtown wayfinding program." He told the committee staff decided to prioritize short‑term projects for the coming year.
Chairman Terry Torres asked about the EDZ account balances; Mr. Jeffries reported there would be $400,000 for FY 2026 and $228,000 projected for FY 2027. He also said the committee will need to decide next year whether to extend the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding period, which would require a new resolution.
Mrs. Fanelli moved to approve the budget; Mr. Cataldo seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The EDZC did not identify specific capital financing for the proposed Pocahontas Park amphitheater at this meeting.
The approved budget will be filed with the City Clerk and forwarded as part of the City's budget process.
