Greene County official urges Union Point readiness as Amazon site nears operations

David DuBois, Director of Economic Development for Greene County, told the Union Point City Council on June 9 that developers seeking to build housing for middle-income workers are looking for medium to large properties and that he regularly lists Union Point as a potential location because of available water and wastewater infrastructure. He said those infrastructure assets make the town attractive for both residential and commercial location decisions.
DuBois told the council that Greene County will hold a job fair in September 2026 connected to a new Amazon distribution facility and that the facility is planned to begin operations on December 3, 2026. He flagged housing for middle-income workers as a major concern for the county's ability to fill new jobs. The council did not take action on specific housing proposals during the meeting.
