Committee hears tour request, Cherry Point STEM cancellation and board scheduling changes

The committee reviewed an Onslow County teen tour request (prefer July 15), learned the Cherry Point Air Show STEM Day was canceled and rescheduled the Board meeting to May 1. Members discussed Capstone invitations with NC State and Gala speaker and sponsorship leads to bring to the Board.
The Development Committee considered several administrative and new-business items. The committee reviewed a request from Onslow County Recreation for a teen summer-camp tour of the facility for about 40 students (ages 12–15) and discussed July 14–16 dates; July 15 was selected as the preferred date based on volunteer availability.
Pam Holder reported the Cherry Point Air Show STEM Day originally scheduled for May 8 "has been canceled," and said the committee may host a scaled-down event at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center if feasible. Holder also reminded members that the ECAHF Board of Directors meeting was moved from May 8 to May 1, 2026 to avoid Air Show conflicts. She said staff plans to invite Board members to an NC State Capstone final presentation and that she has been in communication with Nathan Rowland from NC State. Separately, Barry Fetzer said he sent theme ideas for the 2027 Gala; Tom Braaten suggested Christina Koch as a potential speaker and recommended presenting a Craven Community College sponsorship solicitation to the Board for consideration.
