The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners voted to award contracts to McKesson Medical for latex/vinyl gloves and heavy‑duty nitrile gloves to serve long‑term care, assisted‑living and corrections operations.
A committee member moved to award the latex/vinyl gloves contract to McKesson for "an annual amount not to exceed $33,246 for 1 year and $33,246 for year 2 for a total contract period of 2 years beginning 08/01/2026 through 07/31/2028," and to award nitrile gloves for the Department of Corrections for "an amount not to exceed $9,086 for year 1 and $9,086 for year 2." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
During discussion staff noted the contracts use estimated annual quantities based on historical consumption and include a small percentage cushion to accommodate variability such as enhanced barrier precautions for particular residents, and stressed that the contract amounts are "not to exceed" ceilings. "She looked at historical over the last few years, and I think she puts a small percentage increase over that just for a cushion," a speaker identified as Jude said during the discussion.
The contracts will run through July 31, 2028. No specific per‑case quantities were read into the minutes; staff referenced an internal spreadsheet with estimated annual case receipts for planning.
