ECAHF readies community outreach: Fly-In on Aug. 14 and several group tours scheduled

Marketing for the August 14 Fly-In (5–7 p.m.) is complete; sponsorships are being solicited and the Havelock Chamber was allowed to host a table for door-prize drawings. Multiple tours are scheduled for June–August (Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation June 24; Twin Rivers YMCA Aug. 5; Onslow County Recreation July 15) with proposed activity stations and volunteer recruitment under way.
Pam Dickinson told the Board that marketing for the Fly-In on Aug. 14, 2026 (5–7 p.m.) is complete and sponsorship forms have been circulated to Board members. The Havelock Police Department will collect school supplies through a "Stuff the Patrol Car" event and volunteers were requested to assist distribution. Mary Beth Fennell moved to allow the Havelock Chamber of Commerce to host a table at the Fly-In to conduct free door-prize drawings; the motion passed unanimously.
Tom Braaten and other members reviewed multiple scheduled group tours: Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation (June 24, 11:30 a.m.), Twin Rivers YMCA (Aug. 5; ~120 students and 20 staff), and an Onslow County Recreation teen tour (July 15). Proposed activity stations include drones, an ejection-seat demonstration, a parachute run, the H-46 helicopter and the Havelock History Room. Board members agreed to solicit volunteers, contact STARBASE and STEM partners, and divide large school groups into two sessions where necessary.
