Advisory council pursues Master Gardener and library partnerships to expand outreach

The South Whitehall Township Environmental Advisory Council moved from brainstorming to action on outreach partnerships, agreeing to pursue presentations and volunteer support from Penn State Master Gardeners and to coordinate programming with the Parkland Community Library and Parkland School District. Chair opened the discussion noting the Envirothon event was “very well attended” and suggested inviting the county Master Gardener lead to present at a future meeting.

Members assigned responsibilities to ensure follow-up: Sarah will keep the school-district contact engaged, Marie and Emily will share library liaison duties, and Brian will take the lead on communications planning. Committee members emphasized early coordination with partner organizations to avoid last-minute, reactive participation and suggested short preparatory meetings (15 minutes) with contacts such as Mary Anne at the library to clarify space and logistics ahead of event deadlines.
