Selectboard adopts Fuel Assistance Committee bylaws; program shifts from loans to grants

The Tunbridge Selectboard voted May 27 to adopt revised bylaws for the Fuel Assistance Committee that convert the program from offering loans to providing grants.
Becky Hoyt, the town treasurer, told the board the committee’s account currently holds about $7,000 and that the committee plans a fundraising letter this fall. Under the new bylaws the committee will include four townspeople, the treasurer and one Selectboard member. Hoyt emphasized that funds will come from donations and not from tax revenue. The board approved the bylaws by unanimous vote after a motion by Mike McPhetres and a second from John O’Brien.
The minutes note an operational question about a wood pile (where it is stored and how it will be monitored) but record no further action on that point at the meeting.
