Garden City Fire District board appointment and reappointments approved

Randall Knight, chairman of the Garden City Fire District Board, asked the Rich County Commission on Dec. 10 to appoint Samantha Coontz to replace Jayne Davis on the board. The commission also voted unanimously to reappoint Randall Knight and Michael Lasswell to four-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
Knight reported several district items to commissioners, including ongoing coordination with the Utah Department of Transportation to address standing water issues on Sweetwater Parkway, Tourism Tax Advisory Board approval to replace a 1958 brush truck, and property preparation for a new fire station. Commissioners cited Ms. Coontz's computer skills and community involvement when approving the appointment.
The appointments and reappointments were passed by unanimous vote, and the district will proceed with the equipment replacement and site-preparation work as discussed.
