Committee keeps monitoring language for septic-era areas and flags Twin Lakes for review

Committee members reviewed water-quality objectives focused on protecting groundwater and surface supplies in the Lower Lake area. They recommended keeping monitoring language for areas with on-site wastewater systems constructed before July 1, 1985, but clarified Twin Lakes has since connected to the Lower Lake Water Company.
"If Twin Lakes is on municipal water, then we could take them out," one member said while discussing which neighborhoods require periodic monitoring. Members emphasized the risk of failing or legacy septic systems leaching into groundwater and recommended encouraging voluntary testing of new domestic supplies in eastern parts of the area.
Staff were instructed to update the plan text to reflect current service status where known, to identify responsible agencies for groundwater monitoring, and to remove outdated or redundant sentences when appropriate.
