LAPAC backs community resilience centers, energy retrofits and shade infrastructure for extreme heat and cold

As the meeting closed, members addressed Question: how should the general plan prepare the county for extreme temperatures. The Chair said community resilience centers consistently ranked highly in survey responses. "The community resilience centers consistently a popular answer," the Chair said.
Participants proposed financial assistance for energy retrofits, more shade structures and drought-tolerant green infrastructure to mitigate heat. Several speakers noted the county's limited public pool/splash-pad facilities and transportation gaps that can prevent residents from reaching cooling centers.
