The Chair warned a permit exists for Kelseyville and said the proposed tower would be very visible, saying it "would probably look taller than Kanakai when you're just coming down the hill." Several members argued for alternatives such as small-cell nodes on power poles or hardened tower sites with seven days of backup power.
Resilience centers and backup options were discussed as a way to preserve communications during outages and extreme weather. One attendee suggested equipping community centers and senior centers with STARLINK or other backup Internet so they can operate as emergency gathering points with Internet access.
