Chair outlines LAPAC deliverable and timeline for Middletown general plan input

The Chair opened the meeting by saying staff had produced a consolidated Word document of current policies, objectives and implementations for the Middletown local area and asked members to review it on their own, using K (keep), D (discard) or C (change) markers. "I sent out a word doc of all of it's a compilation of the current policies, objectives, and implementations in the Middletown local area plan," the Chair said, urging members to flag items for the update.
The chair said the group will focus virtual meeting time on items marked C and that drafts of the general-plan updates will be developed after the LAPAC season ends, with draft documents expected in spring (when further public review will begin). Members were told zoning changes must be consistent with general-plan land-use designations; the Chair noted that statutory limits allow only a limited number of general-plan amendments and explained next steps for submitting land-use change requests. The meeting closed with a reminder of the in-person LAPAC meeting later that week to review maps and finalize recommendations.
