Council moves into executive session on contract negotiations, exits with no action

At the Oct. 14 meeting the Vergennes City Council voted to find that premature public knowledge of information concerning contract negotiations would clearly place the city at a substantial disadvantage; the motion was made by Alderman Murray-Killon and seconded by Alderman Koenig and was approved 7-0. Based on that finding, the council voted to enter executive session under 1 V.S.A. §313(a)(1)(A) to receive an update on contract negotiations and invited City Manager Ron Redmond and Betsy Sullivan to attend.
The executive session concluded at 7:59 p.m. and the minutes state that no action was taken as a result of the session. The council then moved to adjourn at 8:00 p.m. (motion by Alderman Koenig, second Alderman Harder-Hyde). The minutes record no votes or decisions stemming from the executive session.
