OSCPA Educational Foundation and board staff updated the board on implementation of the scholarship program set up under the grant agreement the board adopted Oct. 21. Shelley Osterholm summarized that an ACH transfer for funding had taken place and that administrative steps to stand up the Accounting Access scholarship are complete or near complete.
"It's basically called Accounting Access scholarship," Shelley said, explaining the foundation's naming and the work on final criteria. She said the program aims to distribute awards at thresholds discussed in the grant language — "like $3,000, $5,000" — and staff are working through whether awards will be paid in one lump sum or in pieces because of GPA tracking, with a target grantee payment count by Dec. 31 and an application deadline for students in February.
Board members thanked the foundation and staff for coordination; the board noted the timing is helpful in light of potential federal funding changes that could affect student eligibility. Staff said the foundation's selection committee is expected to meet in March to make awards for the fall 2026 term.
