Commissioner S5 argued employee recognition should be handled by Human Resources and asked staff to coordinate moving the remaining recognition funds into HR's budget. Veronica said she moved some money but left funds to cover a five-year recognition celebration this year.
"For me, I feel like that should live within HR because it's a function that they can manage," S5 said. Veronica confirmed she shifted dollars from employee recognition into travel and office-supplies lines to cover anticipated increased usage by incoming commissioners.
The board accepted the transfer in principle and instructed staff to confirm the final allocation with the clerk and HR so the HR budget can absorb recognition expenses going forward.
