Staff reports CLG grant and county match request as part of commission budget push
Summary
Staff told the commission they applied for a $10,000 CLG grant with a $10,000 match and requested an additional $20,000 in unrestricted county funds; the budget committee advanced the request and the final council decision is expected in December.

A staff member described the commission’s current funding plan: the CLG (Certified Local Government) grant request is for $10,000 with a county match of $10,000, and staff also requested an additional $20,000 of board-directed general funds in the county budget. “The request on May was fully fund the grant, which is the grant's 10,000, and then our app is 10,000,” the staff member said, noting that the budget committee has approved the submissions and final council approval is pending in December.
Commissioners discussed how a combined pool of restricted grant funds and general board-directed funds could be used for consultant surveys, curator contracts, and pilot museum projects. Staff cautioned that while the grant is restricted to survey work, the additional county funds could be allocated for staff-directed projects and operational needs if council authorizes them.
