County to test public opinion with FlashVote survey on affordable housing

Members debated whether to allow multiple selections and whether to add a broad lead question on whether residents support county involvement in addressing affordability.
Committee members recommended adjustments to wording (for example, using the 30%-of-income definition for affordability) and decided the education committee will finalize questions during breakout work. Staff noted the county can choose to send the survey only to FlashVote’s panel or to publish a public link; FlashVote’s contracted panel guarantees a baseline response and demographic metadata that staff can filter.
The committee did not yet approve a contract or release date; staff will circulate the final question set for review after the education committee’s session.
