Council hears findings from 10,000-foot TV inspection of sewer mains

Mike Lees told the council the team TV-inspected roughly 10,000 feet of sewer lines targeted for age and known problem areas. "We TV inspected 10,000 feet of sewer lines," Lees said, and the crew focused on sections with prior plugs or overflows.
Lees described the defects discovered in the inspected reaches: structural problems (cracking, crushed barrels), missing joint gaskets, infiltration and inflow, tree-root intrusion and accumulations of fats, oils and grease. The report categorizes deficiencies as high, medium and low priority; high priority items include structural defects and missing gaskets that can allow infiltration or exfiltration.
Council discussion touched on examples found on video (rocks and construction debris introduced during construction, severely obstructed runs) and the time-intensive nature of reviewing inspection footage. Lees said the next step is to select another ~10,000 feet for inspection and continue the prioritized repairs and planning.
