Jeff raised concerns about recent LED streetlight conversions in Narberth, saying the change created very bright, daylight-colored nighttime lighting that can disorient migrating birds and interfere with sleep for nearby residents.
"It feels like a full moon every night...the color temperature is like a daylight color, which is the opposite of what you want for, to comply with, like, what's friendly for wildlife," Jeff said. He suggested the township consider dark-sky compliance for its properties and urged attention to color temperature and dimming schedules.
Jeff framed dark-sky changes as a relatively simple township policy that could benefit wildlife and residents and offered to discuss options with borough staff to reduce adverse effects from well-intentioned LED conversions.
