Subcommittee recommends David Wunsch for Laconia Water Commission seat

The City of Laconia Appointments Subcommittee recommended David Wunsch to serve as a regular member of the Water Commission for a three-year term ending June 2029. Chair Conant thanked Wunsch for joining via Zoom and asked about his availability for the commission’s first- and third-Monday meetings; Wunsch said he should be able to attend most meetings with only occasional conflicts.

"I like to be active and use my brain," Wunsch said when asked what motivates him to serve. Councilor Bogert said Wunsch has the qualifications and depth of experience to be an asset to the commission. Councilor Haynes voted against the recommendation, saying he did not hear much about business experience and expressing a broader concern that applicants sometimes arrive already familiarized by staff: "the Water Commission is a business, and I did not hear a lot about business." The motion to recommend Wunsch passed with two in favor and one opposed.

The Subcommittee record notes the City Manager’s office will follow up with the candidate. The recommendation will be forwarded per the usual appointment process; the transcript lists the term expiring at the end of June 2029.
