Board hears progress on EQ tank; plans to add VFD to smooth peak flows

The Chair reported that Mountain Air has completed mechanical work on the EQ tank, including piping, valving, the pump and a mixer. On the controls side the board plans to add a variable-frequency drive so the pump can be dialed between a winter and summer setting to better manage variable flows.
"We're gonna equalize that flow across the treatment basins...the bulk of the flow comes in a 4 hour period from 4PM to 8PM," the Chair said, explaining that the VFD will allow the pump to run at different speeds and trigger alarms if tank levels exceed thresholds. The Chair said the system should significantly reduce peak loading, with final tuning expected after initial operation.
