Chair (S1) said the town had applied for a $500,000 energy grant but received an award letter for $340,000. “We didn't get the $500,000. We got $340,000,” the Chair said, adding that the awarding agency (BGS) had informed the town it could not discuss award decisions in detail until after December 16. The Chair told the board the award is usable for items in the project scope but that the town lacked a copy of the original submitted fillable application file.
Committee members expressed frustration that the scoring matrices and reasons for reductions were not being released; staff said the award letter and a forthcoming FAQ would be the only immediate documentation. The board voted to accept the award and authorized the Chair to sign the grant documents, while reserving the right to ask questions and seek further clarification after the agency’s December release.
