The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to forward a recommendation on the construction-permit application for Ashwood Creek LLC (Section 36, Jacksonville Township) to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Staff presented the county's master-matrix scoring (total 450) and noted the minimum passing score cited in the meeting as 440. The board directed that a letter, drafted by staff and signed by the chair, be sent to the DNR with the county's score and any supporting documents.
The chair also read or summarized a written public comment submitted by Joe and Mary Jo Sibelka opposing the proposed confinement facility; the letter raised concerns about water resources, tile lines, runoff and water usage. Staff said they will include supplemental letters and site-inspection notes with the county submission to the DNR. The board voted 5-0 to recommend approval (based on the county score) and to transmit the county's recommendation and documentation to the DNR for final review and potential re-scoring.
