City engineers report fewer sewer point repairs than expected; $205K contractor pay request approved

In an update to council, presenter Tanya said pre-televising and dye testing on the sanitary sewer collection improvement project reduced the number of anticipated point repairs from as many as 10 to six. She told council this was "good news" because it reduced excavation and overall cost needs.
Tanya explained that the contractor (Muslin Brothers) and line-lining subcontractor completed pre-televising to determine lengths and locations. She noted the project cost estimate stands near $960,411 against roughly $953,000 remaining funds, and staff recommended removing manhole rehabilitation from the current scope as a later change order to keep the project close to budget.
Separately the council approved contractor pay request No.1 for the sanitary sewer collection improvements in the amount of $205,199.51 for work completed through early May; the motion carried by voice vote.
