"The base bids range from 1,072,000 roughly up to 1,132,000," the presenter said, and he noted the city's available funding is about $951,000, leaving the base bid approximately $120,000 over available funds. The engineer recommended awarding the base bid only and postponing bid alternates until crews televise the lines and prioritize repairs.
Council discussed options to reduce scope if necessary (for example, eliminating manhole lining or shortening lateral lining lengths) and agreed to wait for televising results and contractor coordination before committing alternates. The engineering report also covered related projects, including a water-tower bid summary and final design steps for the 4th Street water-main work.
