Consultant shows widening and roundabout sketches as potential fixes for Main Street interchange
Summary
Concept sketches presented to the TAC include widening the Main Street overpass to three lanes, reconfiguring ramp geometry and several roundabout options; consultants said roundabouts may reduce left‑turn queuing and, in some cases, avoid the need to widen the overpass.

The consultant showed a range of conceptual sketches and said one simple idea was: "Can we just widen the overpass, get a 3 lane section on the overpass?" He also discussed a set of roundabout sketches, noting that "roundabouts will and should be given their due" and that roundabouts could eliminate left‑turn queuing and potentially reduce the need to widen the bridge.
Matt said the project will not design final construction documents at this stage but will develop concepts and phasing that are clear enough for stakeholders and property owners to visualize. He emphasized that some concepts that look simple on a sketch (for example, widening the overpass) "might be much much more challenging than it looks," and that implementation and phasing will be important evaluation criteria.
