Port of Morrow says Main Street interchange is primary westbound route for oversized loads

Port representatives told the TAC the interchange is the main routing for oversized westbound freight; participants noted recurring bridge strikes and the need to preserve ramp detours that trucks use when underclearance prevents passage on the mainline.
Jacob Kane, a professional engineer representing the Port, described the interchange’s freight role: "that interchange serves as everything coming out of the port going west from a from an over dimensional to overweight standpoint. If it's coming from the port, it's gonna head west along the I 84 Corridor." He added port operations generate many over‑dimension loads and that the ramps are routinely used when mainline clearance is limited.
Meeting participants also raised the bridge clearance and strike history. Matt Hubert said the eastbound approach has clearance issues and the team will "bring it to, I think, a greater light as part of this planning effort." An ODOT representative noted the bridge "is being struck, but... a handful of times" and described it as "built super stout," saying ODOT has no current plans for corrective work but will document the issue for the IAMP update.
