Council adopts renaming of two streets to improve addressing and emergency response

Mayor Kiefer opened a public hearing and Planning Official Carla MacLean gave the staff report explaining why the changes are needed. "To alleviate any confusion, particularly for emergency responders, we decided, the best action was to change the name of the road," MacLean said. The first ordinance renames a portion of Southwest Eagle Drive, south of Goldfinch Lane, to Cardinal Drive; staff said this segment has not yet had addresses assigned and the change avoids duplicate addressing with nearby Eagle Court.
Carla MacLean also described the second street change in the Chaparral subdivision: the segment north of Mount Hood will be identified as Mesquite Street so addressing is clear and emergency response is aided. Councilors confirmed map details and which tax lots would receive Mesquite addresses. Council moved, seconded and adopted Ordinance 8-20-26 (Southwest Eagle to Cardinal) and Ordinance 10-20-26 (Southwest Mount Hood to Mesquite) by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The ordinances take effect as prescribed by the city code and will be reflected in addressing databases and street signage updates.
