PAC debates employment versus industrial designations; data center acreage noted

Participants discussed the difference between employment center and industrial center designations. Hannah Ray said employment centers are intended for more office and professional services while industrial centers preserve large-parcel sites suited to food processing, warehousing and other industrial uses. The Economic Opportunity Analysis informed an emphasis on retaining industrial land because the analysis identified a deficit of large industrial parcels.
Anna noted the existing data center parcel is "just around 80 acres," and the plan's broader employment/industrial area under discussion could total roughly 100 acres depending on configuration. Several PAC members urged ensuring enough large parcels remain available for industrial uses rather than converting them to smaller employment parcels.
