Housing role in proposed community centers flagged as key question for PAC

Matt Hastie, senior project manager with the housing capacity analysis team, asked whether community center areas were intended to be mixed-use with required housing components or whether housing would mainly occur in adjacent urban-character areas. He said the answer matters for long-term housing assumptions used in the housing capacity analysis.
"When you think about applying zoning ... the question I'm gonna have is whether or not there would be required to be some kind of housing component of future development in those areas," Matt Hastie said. Staff replied that community center areas are meant to be mixed-use and that whether housing is required or allowed in specific zones will be worked out during the development code stage and through the housing capacity analysis.
