Teachers and instructional coaches urge board to reverse or redesign coach reassignments

"Being an effective instructional coach depends on trust, consistency, and the credibility that we cultivate in our buildings," said Courtney Richardson, an instructional coach at Slagle High School, who said coaches received no meaningful input before placements were changed and urged the board to consider the real‑life impacts of moving people. Jen Hill, a 31‑year educator, told the board the restructuring was issued "in a complete vacuum," bypassing principals and frontline staff and called for a collaborative, building‑based approach.
Board members acknowledged the comments and asked speakers to submit written remarks to the clerk for distribution. The board chair said staff may follow up and report back; there was no formal vote attaching personnel changes to policy on the night of the meeting. The superintendent and leadership team indicated the district had paused implementation and would engage further with staff and principals.
