Irene Schmidt presented a review of existing town ordinances to the Select Board on March 18, identifying ordinances she found to be outdated, duplicated or in conflict with current state statutes. She suggested which committees or boards should take responsibility for particular edits and revisions to bring the ordinances into alignment with state law.
The presentation was informational; the board did not vote on ordinance language at the meeting. The Shellfish Committee later reported that it had received feedback from the Department of Marine Resources after submitting its ordinance edits and is awaiting further response.
