The Avon Town Council accepted three program submissions to the state Neighborhood Assistance Act and authorized submittal to the Department of Revenue Services.
The Council approved sending the following applications: Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra for $64,460.00; Gifts of Love, Inc. for $9,737.23; and The Sam and Elizabeth Colt Industrial & Frontier Heritage Center for $50,000.00. Chairman Polhamus emphasized the town’s limited financial exposure, saying the town is not obligated to pay grant funds: “we are not paying for any part of the funds that may be granted to the organization.”
The submissions will be included in the town’s packet to the Department of Revenue Services for consideration under Public Act 95-268.
