How to give to BADC’s 143 Main Street campaign: checks, securities, and IRA disbursements

Carl Rinker, interim executive director and longtime BADC board member, outlined donation options and tax considerations for supporters of the 143 Main Street campaign. "You can go on the website and donate that way," Rinker said, noting the campaign site and donation buttons are live at badc.com and that checks may be mailed to Post Office Box 265 in Barre.
Rinker said BADC can accept securities and IRA disbursements but warned that if the group must return donated funds those retirement disbursements cannot simply be put back into an IRA; donors should consult their financial or tax advisers. "If we have to give it back to you, you will not be able to put it back in your IRA," he said, adding that donors should seek tax advice about their choices.
