Selectboard agrees to test MunisPay online payments with property tax bills

The Bakersfield Selectboard voted to authorize setting up an online payments service (referred to in the meeting as MunisPay or AutoAgent) so taxpayers can pay property taxes online. Tom (S6) presented a demonstration and screenshots from other towns and recommended testing the system with tax bills.
"It seems very low risk to me... there's no expense anyway," Tom said when describing the vendor. He told the board the agreement he reviewed allows a three‑year term that can be canceled with 30 days' notice and that many nearby towns use the same service. A motion to set up the online payment system and integrate a payment link on the town website was made and approved.
Board members asked staff to draft website wording to make clear the town is not liable for third‑party payment fees and to confirm that payment pages show fees before a taxpayer completes a transaction.
