Members of the planning commission told the Select Board they voted 4–0 to favor moving from the current zoning‑board model to a development review board/design review board model and said Luke Slamba of the Northwest Regional Planning Commission supplied a model motion the select board could adopt. The select board asked that the model motion be sent to staff and scheduled for consideration at the next meeting when more board members are expected to attend.
Commission members also raised whether planning commissioners and DRB members should receive a stipend. One planning commissioner asked, “Can we get paid? ... it would keep it honest,” arguing modest pay could improve recruitment and perceived independence. The select board acknowledged the topic is not on tonight's agenda but asked Bill to prepare a quick estimate of hours and a cost sheet so the board can discuss including a stipend in the upcoming budget.
