A representative of the Fairfield Community Center told the Bakersfield Select Board that the center is seeking a ballot article authorizing voters to raise, appropriate and expend $5,000 to support programs and services in East Fairfield. The board asked the representative to provide a line‑item budget so voters know how the funds would be spent and reminded applicants about the town's filing deadlines.
As the center's representative read from its submission: “shall the residents of the town of Bakersfield vote to raise, appropriate, and expend the sum of $5,000 to support the community center in East Fairfield, which provides essential services and enrichment programs for families, seniors, and children.” Board members said they did not have the requested budget breakdown at the meeting and asked the group to provide that detail before the next budget meeting so the item can be considered on the town report and ballot. Staff also noted that going forward applications should meet the December 1 posting/postmark deadline, and the board agreed to publish guidance on deadlines and the budget requirement.
