Council reviewed and approved a revised recruitment schedule for the city administrator position and the associated public survey designed to inform the candidate profile. The administrator explained the timeline: the public-input deadline is May 6; the application window is set for June 3–July 7; initial screening of applicants will occur at the July 14 meeting and the interview week is scheduled for the week of Aug. 17 with three interview panels (citizen, internal staff and professional managers). "The time period then for the application period is set for June 3 through July 7," staff stated during the presentation.
Staff recommended adding a "no opinion" option to department‑satisfaction questions and a question asking whether a respondent had contact with the department in the prior two years to permit cross-tabulation of results. Councilors expressed support for the approach and asked staff to proceed, with the administrator noting results would be incorporated into the candidate profile for subsequent council review.
